  • Pyjama Project

The Pyjama Project was established by Caroline Poiner, founder and driving force behind social enterprise Artisans of Fashion and friend for over 40 years Sam Rollins. Having worked closely with textile artisan communities and women's groups in India, Caroline and Sam have witnessed many issues within the textile and fashion sector and found the need to create change.

Caroline has provided mentoring in many ways to Sewa Shram Shakti Foundation since the very early inception, this was done selflessly and her approach has had a positive impact on multiple levels, social and economic.

The Pyjama Project is creating opportunities for vulnerable women and girls, those who have fallen victim to sexual exploitation, bonded labour and domestic abuse so that they can be financially independent, live with dignity and follow their dreams.

The mission of this project is to empower women so they are no longer vulnerable, to live in freedom and break the cycle of poverty through safe, sustainable living-wage employment. The modern techniques of sewing, cutting, finishing and skilling using the latest equipment for high quality, commercial standard outcomes is paramount to the long term success of the project.

In a joint consultative approach, Sewa Shram Shakti Foundation with the support of Caroline and the Pyjama Project is empowering hundreds of girls in such a way that they will be recognised as respected and skilled employees and can forget their horrific past.
